Faculty Introduction

ICT is a dynamic, ever-changing subject that is enjoyed and studied by all students at Key Stages 3 & 4.  We also offer a choice of ICT courses at KS5. The ICT Faculty staff are enthusiastic promoters of ICT at all levels and our vision is to integrate innovative technology with teaching excellence in order to provide a relevant curriculum which develops essential skills necessary for school and beyond. ICT is delivered in discrete lessons throughout KS3 & 4 and is widely integrated across the curriculum.

We have excellent ICT facilities across the school with 4 dedicated computer suites in the ICT faculty and dedicated computer suites in most other faculty areas. The Technology faculty has an Apple Mac suite and there are Apple Macs in each of the ICT faculty rooms. There is a wide range of innovative and industry standard software available across the school network including the Adobe Creative Suite and programming software.

All students learn a wide range of core business ICT skills as well as gaining a solid grounding in web design and multimedia development skills and an introduction to programming. All students have access to the school’s Virtual Learning Environment (Fronter). We also aim to develop all students’ ability to organise and manage themselves, their digital lives and their work and we encourage them to reflect critically on their own and others' use of ICT.
