Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance Overview

The Careers department provides high quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to help students make important decisions about life after school and thrive in their chosen field.  Our school philosophy of Kaizen (continuous improvement) enables our students to always aim high so that they can attain their best. A qualified Careers Advisor provides individual advice and guidance to our students. Our comprehensive Careers Programme is delivered through PSHE lessons during tutor time, assemblies, workshops, organised trips, work experience, and the end of each key stage transition programme. Students at The Totteridge Academy have access to the Unifrog platform. This is used to track student aspirations and identify opportunities that link to their future. We offer an after school and lunch time drop-in service for all year groups and an accessible Careers Library. The Sixth Form Progression blog The Early Bird and the Parent Newsletter are updated weekly with Job of the Week and progression opportunities. The Careers and Work-Related Learning Lead is Nurcan Irencin (Nurcan.Irencin@tta.org.uk).

Our aim is to:

·    Expand students’ knowledge of Jobs, Careers and Pathways available.

·    Raise the aspirations of our students.

·    Empower students to make informed choices about their future.

·    Challenge any stereotypes related to specific jobs or career paths.

·    Provide opportunities that students may not otherwise experience or have.
