Our teaching staff are characterised by their professionalism, diverse expertise and love of their subjects, and are united in their unswerving commitment to the students. We pride ourselves on the quality, challenge and rigour of our teaching, which is clearly evidenced in the students’ achievement. The Totteridge Academy was nominated for ‘Maths Team of the Year’ at the TES Awards in 2018 and Tom Knott, one of our maths teachers, is a silver-award-winner of the ‘Pearson Teacher of the Year’. We were also nominated for two further teaching awards locally in the borough.
The support staff at The Totteridge Academy are integral to the school’s accomplishments: our Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) work tirelessly with students who have Special Educational Needs, and are trained in different areas of specialism. Each LSA is deployed to work with targeted students who present the need that they have expert knowledge of. The academy’s successes are underpinned by a highly efficient and hard-working team of non-teaching staff who ensure that everything, from trips to public exams, run effortlessly.
We, the Governors, are critical friends of the school – we are here to support and act as sounding boards to ensure that strategic systems are in place and effective. We hold the leadership team and staff to account in order to ensure that TTA is excelling.
We meet at TTA at least twice a term to be updated on all that is going on at the school. We volunteer for this role as we are dedicated to supporting young people and sharing our expertise with schools.
We are also thrilled to have been nominated for the Barnet Schools Award in 2018! For more detailed information on governance at TTA click here.
