Our Amazing Staff

IMG_3375.JPG

Our staff are characterised by their professionalism, diverse expertise, love of their subjects, and are united in their unswerving commitment to the students. We pride ourselves on the quality, challenge and rigour of our teaching, as well as the support we give beyond the classroom, which is clearly evidenced in the students’ achievement.

This year, we were thrilled and honoured to have won the Tes 'Secondary School of the Year' Award! We were also proud to be awarded ‘Maths Team of the Year’ at the Tes Awards in 2019 and Tom Knott, one of our maths teachers, is a silver-award-winner of the ‘Pearson Teacher of the Year’. We were also shortlisted for World's Best School in the Supporting Healthy Lives category in 2022.

Staff Wellbeing

GROW LONDON-49.jpg

There is a real community feel about the staff body and we have a number of weekly groups before and after school, including HIIT, Yoga, Student/Staff Choir, Student/Staff Football. Staff are close-knit and incredibly supportive of one another: they are proud to work hard for our students. Staff at TTA have autonomy to make the best decisions for their departments; we highly value our professional autonomy. One manifestation of that is in professional development, where staff have full agency over their development goals through the 'Kaizen Cards'.

We had a 100% response to our annual staff survey and 100% of staff said that they were proud to work at TTA. Staff wellbeing is promoted by reducing workload where possible, weekly drop ins, staff socials, treats for staff, visits to the GROW farm/walk school dog, daily briefing with thought for the day (staff speaking for two minutes on a topic/’thought’ of their choice).

Governors

We, the Governors, are critical friends of the school – we are here to support and act as sounding boards to ensure that strategic systems are in place and effective. We hold the leadership team and staff to account in order to ensure that TTA is excelling.

We meet at TTA at least twice a term to be updated on all that is going on at the school. We volunteer for this role as we are dedicated to supporting young people and sharing our expertise with schools.

We were also thrilled to be nominated for the Barnet Schools Award in 2018! For more detailed information on governance at TTA click here.
