Another Summer of A Level Success at The Totteridge Academy
Top grades translate to top destinations once again for Sixth Formers
Sixth Formers at The Totteridge Academy have risen to the occasion as the release of A Level results today leads to another year of well-deserved celebrations.
With well over a third (39%) of A Level entries at the school achieving the top A* and A grades this year, most students spent the morning securing their offers of choice – with many electing to continue their studies at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities.
Several Sixth Formers secured their places at Oxbridge, among those with offers to join Russell Group universities. This included Olivia Defosse who will be reading Natural Sciences at Pembroke College, Cambridge and Hannah Morris and Weronika Jezierska who will joining Lincoln College and Hertford College at Oxford respectively.
Meanwhile, Oskar Graham-Taylor, who achieved four straight A*s in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths, Physics, has accepted a place at the University of Warwick to study Maths. Priscilla Kaloci will also be heading to Warwick with three A*s to study Economics, as will Siddhi Palli who achieved two A*s and two As.
These are just some of the students with fantastic destinations secured as a result of their hard work and determined focus on gaining the best outcomes they could.
Moreover, these A Level results follow another year of success at the school, which included an Ofsted report which judged it ‘Exceptional’ in five out of the seven key assessment categories. The inspection report praised the school’s above national average outcomes at Sixth Form and the way students remarked on “on how much they appreciate the care that they receive from their teachers”.
Commenting on her results, Olivia said:
“This has been a brilliant morning and I’m so glad to have the grades I needed. Cambridge is going to be an incredible opportunity, and I obviously can’t wait to get started, but I will miss everyone at The Totteridge Academy when I do. I can’t say enough good things about the experience I’ve had here and I’m very grateful to all my teachers for the support and preparation.”
Reflecting on students’ achievements, Chris Fairbairn, Principal at The Totteridge Academy, said:
“This group of students has been brilliant to teach and to work with and they should all feel immense pride in what they have achieved. I know I speak for all our Sixth Form staff when I say that their successes today are well deserved and reflect the focus and dedication they have shown throughout their studies.
“I also know that students will want to join me in thanking staff members for the support they offer. Their encouragement, expertise and guidance have been instrumental in the ability of our students to achieve at their very best throughout their time at school.”
Vice Principal Tom Knott, who will succeed Chris Fairbairn as Principal of The Totteridge Academy from September, added:
“This is a milestone moment for our Year 13s as they take their next steps in life and in their studies beyond school. We are so very proud and excited for what they achieve next.”
