This year’s A Level results day has been cause for celebration once more at The Totteridge Academy as students secure a range of amazing destinations, including top Russell Group universities.
With 42% of the year group achieving Russell Group places, and 60% gaining their first-choice university place, the school was filled with excitement as students confirmed their next steps.
Universities of choice among the students included University College London (UCL), the University of Edinburgh, the London School of Economics and Politics (LSE), King’s College London and the University of Leeds. The variety of courses chosen was also testament to the individual talents and interests of each Sixth Former – from Maths and Further Maths to Polities and History.
Across the school’s rapidly growing Sixth Form, there was a range of excellent achievements in all subject areas. This summer, A Level Government and Politics was the stand-out with 75% of entries getting the top grades of A* or A and 100% achieving at least a B grade.
Chris Fairbairn, Principal of The Totteridge Academy, said:
“It is a privilege each year to see our Year 13s open their results and secure their future plans. We know how much they enjoy their years at The Totteridge Academy but there is a particular thrill in seeing students go from Year 7 to graduating at the end with excellent results.
“Whilst the students deserve all the praise for their hard work and effort, the best schools nurture each student’s talent and help them make the choices that are right for them. That is why it is so brilliant for us as a staff team to see our students today accepting places at the best universities knowing that each one is going on to do something they love and will succeed at in the years to come.”
